RGNUL-L&L CERTIFICATE COURSE ON "ANTITRUST CONCERNS IN DIGITAL MARKETS"

The Editorial Board of the RGNUL Financial and Mercantile Law Review (RFMLR) is pleased to inform that it organised the RGNUL-L&L Certificate Course on "Antitrust Concerns in Digital Markets" on April 9 and 10, 2022, in collaboration with L&L Partners.

About the Course:

 

The Course was primarily aimed towards exploring the scrutiny of the antitrust authorities into the Big-Tech Companies across various jurisdictions. Inter alia, the Course covered topics such as the abuse of dominant position by Big-Tech Companies, the approach of the CCI in comparison to other antitrust regulators across the world, and the efficiency justifications in the digital market.


The session commenced with an introduction into the basic facets of Competition Law, and the Resource Persons also elucidated upon the economic principles behind Competition Law. Thereafter, the Resource Persons delved into the basics of Section 4 of the Competition Act, 2002, which relates to the abuse of dominant position by enterprises in India. On the second day of the Course, an extensive discussed regarding the applicability of the provisions pertaining to abuse of dominant position in digital markets was undertaken by the Resource Persons from L&L Partners. They explained the concepts through various illustrations and case laws in this segment. 


The event was exclusively organised for the students of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, who were chosen after a robust selection process. It provided them with a unique opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge on the aspects of Competition Law in general, and digital markets in particular. Furthermore, the students got an opportunity to interact with the Resource Persons and learn from their valuable insights regarding the subject, along with their personal experiences in this challenging field.
