DEMYSTIFYING M&A SERIES: 4th Edition
The Editorial Board of the RGNUL Financial and Mercantile Law Review (RFMLR) organized the fourth edition of the “Demystifying Series” on the topic: "Navigating the Evolving Regulatory Landscape: Impact on Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Governance" on February 17, 2024 (Saturday) with Mr. Pratika Shankar, Partner at Talwar Thakore & associates (TT&A) as the resource person. Mr. Shankar graduated from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab in 2013 with exceptional academic laurels and extra-curricular achievements, and has more than 10 years of experience working with national and multinational corporations in the field of Corporate, M&A and Private Equity.
The workshop was moderated by Mr Pranav Aggarwal, a Junior Editor at RFMLR. The workshop provided exceptional insights into the evolving landscape of corporate governance and its impact on M&A deals. It commenced with a case study illustrating a potential acquisition deal, setting the stage for a comprehensive discussion. Mr. Pratika elaborated on the intricacies of M&A deals, emphasizing the importance of corporate governance compliance in ensuring successful transactions. He highlighted significant legislations such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), underscoring their role in advancing sustainable corporate governance practices.
Additionally, the discussion covered Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, emphasizing their influence on investor confidence. Mr. Pratika ended the workshop with a final note, stressing the importance of compliance with proper corporate governance standards to reach the highest standards in relationships in the corporate field. Finally, to enhance the practical understanding of the participants of the session, they were required to complete an assessment test consisting of various practical scenario-based multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Throughout the session, Mr. Shankar also addressed the numerous queries raised by the participants.
The workshop gave academics, practitioners, and students a special chance to acquire hands-on knowledge and benefit from the valuable perspectives shared by Mr. Shankar.
